Winning Artist

Recently, students from Years 7 to 10 Japanese classes in Dandenong High School participated in a poster competition organised by JLTAV, the Japanese Language Teachers’ Association Victoria. Students were asked to design a poster reflecting the Japanese language or culture. A lot of students from the school used their talents and created fantastic artworks that have demonstrated their understanding about the Japanese culture and society.

Sumaidha from Eucalyptus 9 created an outstanding piece of artwork and she became the top winner across the whole state of Victoria. Sumaidha’s poster has been used as the front cover of 2021 JLTAV annual conference.

“I really enjoyed creating this illustration,” Sumaidha reflected, “I tried to include Mt Fuji, the traditional Kimono dress and cherry blossoms in my design, all of which I believe are important icons that represent the typical Japanese culture. Thank you to JLTAV for organising such a fun and educational event. I also appreciate the help from my Japanese teacher, Mr Yuan, who has encouraged us to participate in this competition.”

Congratulations to Sumaidha on her wonderful achievement!
