Food Technology
Throughout these last few weeks we have been completing SACs and CATs in the kitchen.
Year 7 and 8
Our Junior students completed a Hamburger CAT, week learning skills in heat control and independently cooking for the first time without the support from a partner or a demonstration from the teacher.
The students designed and produced their hamburgers. They used the practical skills learnt through the term and demonstrated time management and organisational skills. This is followed by the students evaluating and analysing their hamburgers against Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and making suggestions as to how can they add more nutrients to it.
Year 10
Our Year 10 Students have been focusing on Nutrients and the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. Completing their CAT on a personalised version of Fried Rice, evaluating the dietary aspects of the dish they ordered and cooked themselves.
Year 11
Year 11’s first practical SAC was focused around ancient grains and they conducted research around the hunter gather groups from different countries around the world. Their dish was Quinoa Burgers.
