Diocesan Swimming Carnival

Last Friday, St Xavier's had 28 swimmers represent at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival.

Our Catholic Primary Schools from around the Diocese gathered for a day of competitive swimming. Just under 300 swimmers participated in the carnival, all children doing their best, encouraging others and displaying exceptional sportsmanship.

St Xavier's had 14 swimmers who qualified for the NSWCPS Championships in Sydney on Monday 22 March: Audrey Hannaford, Molly Ramien, Alexis Campbell, Joshua Spinks, Matilda Denovan, Eugenie Goddard, Jacob Smith, Dana Campbell, Georgia Lyons, Katie Spinks, Baxter Knapman, Maggie Brown, Tahni Bush, Danika Jones.

A number of Diocesan Records were broken on the day, including the following from St Xavier's swimmers:

Jacob Smith broke a record in the 11 years old 50m Backstroke with 37.79. The previous record 37.97 was held by Ned Yeomans in 2007.
St Xavier's Gunnedah (Tahni Bush, Dana Campbell, Audrey Hannaford & Danika Jones) broke the Senior Girls Relay record with a time of 2:21.73. The previous record 2:22.60 was held by St Nicholas Tamworth in 2019.
