From the Auslan Classroom

Auslan Club

From Liam, Auslan teacher

Year 1 students have started a brand new unit focusing on different signs for animals. We also read a story about visiting the zoo. This week we have started a brand new project. Each Year 1 class will collaboratively write, illustrate and sign their own class version of the same story.

See the pictures included in this article for some of the Year 1 students starting this process.

Year 2-5 students have all started learning about signing what they learn at school. This included lots of new signs for all the different subjects we study. We are applying these skills to a fun game. The game involved only using Auslan and students assume a character who has a favourite subject. The aim is to find the other character that shares the same favourite subject. It has been very fun to play so far.

Introducing the new Auslan Club

Every Monday at first playtime, students are welcome to come and join us for some fun games that we play using Auslan. There is a strong focus in the club on 'no voice', Auslan only. There were quite a few cool cats who joined this week and they did an amazing job!
