As I breathe the Sweet Air........

by Andrew Blakemore

As I breathe the sweetair all around me,

And I gaze at the beautiful sky,

Far over the valleys and mountains,

An eagle is soaring so high.

As I see all the sights of the country,

And drink from the riversand streams,

I feel such a strong sense of freedom,

For this is the place of my dreams.

As I hear all the wonderful bird songs,

That float through the woodland I roam,

I gaze at the trees all around me,

And know that this place is my own.

As I smell all the scentsof the flowers,

Their colours so vivid and strong,

And knowingwherever I wander,

My heart here shall always belong.

We reflect: As you breathe the sweet air around you, think about all that you have to be gratefulfor, all that you have been blessedwith… Talk

to God….

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

The College Parent Advisory Council are seeking new members! There are four vacancies that can be filled and the AGM is later this month, Monday March 23 March. A nomination form has been circulated both on Compass and in the last newsletter and I ask that everyone please give it serious consideration. Terms are for two years and parents can serve three consecutive terms before compulsory stand down.

At the AGM we farewell current Chairperson Lindy Golden. Lindy has been on the Committee since 2014 and the last two years has been doing a wonderful job as Chairperson. In her time on the Council, Lindy also served as Secretary and has put her hand up for whatever was required. Her calm manner, backed with her organizational skills has benefitted the Council and the College in general. On behalf of the whole community, I thank Lindy for her support, wisdom and guidance throughout the years of her leadership.

The Study Club on Thursdays from 3:15-4:30 has commenced and is steadily building in participation. I congratulate the Student Leadership Team who have initiated a roster to help students with their study and will be there each week for help. Student Leadership are contributing in many ways to meet various elements of the College Mission and I am pleased with their energy and enthusiasm to work across all areas of Faith, Learning, Care, Service and Stewardship. Bringing each element to life is critical in making the College a living expression of Catholic Education. You have our support!

Next Sunday is our 9am Youth Mass at the Marcellin Hall. An invitation is extended to all students and families. We are targeting Year Ten as readers but we would like to see as many attend as possible.

Congratulations to Year 8 students for getting involved in Clean Up Australia Day/Schools today.

Marian Catholic College Council Vacancies

There are four parent representative vacancies on the Marian Catholic College Council available for a period of 2 years commencing 22 March 2021. Please see the attached Nomination Form for you or a parent that you would like to nominate to complete and submit to the College office by Thursday 18 March 2021.

Finally, in the interests of safety I remind parents that Wakaden St is not a drop off/pick up area. Nothing is more dangerous that having students crossing this street in the morning and particularly the afternoon. Please do not put your children’s lives in danger. Do the right thing and go to MacArthur St or anywhere other than Wakaden St that is safe.

Peace and Best Wishes
