Stage IV

Shepparton Education Plan

  Needs your input...

Stage IV of the Shepparton Education Plan needs your input!

Did you know the Shepparton Education Plan is more than the new Greater Shepparton Secondary College? In fact, there are four stages included in the plan, spanning birth to post-secondary:

Stage 1: Secondary Education (creation of Greater Shepparton Secondary College)

Stage 2: Early Years

Stage 3: Primary Education

Stage 4: Tertiary Education & Skills

In combination these stages will make transformational change to education throughout Shepparton. The catalyst for this change is re-positioning learning and development at the heart of our community.  It is about doing things differently, and together.

Work has now begun on Stage IV of the Shepparton Education Plan.

What does this mean?

This stage will help more young people engage with secondary schooling, and build a pathway to further education, training and work in our local industries.

In closer detail, Stage IV will:

  • Deliver quality careers program and pathways planning at all year levels, inclusive of futures orientated thinking
  • Develop and deliver a multifaceted suite of ‘Experiences of Work’
  • Targeted further education and/or employment preparation support for young people, aligned to student cohort needs- vulnerable through to gifted and talented
  • Provide an opportunity for every young person to have the aspiration, networks and support to explore post school pathways to employment or further education
  • Strengthen strategic links with industry and further education

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are looking for parents of children from Year 7-12, from various backgrounds to take part in a 10-minute telephone interview.  Questions you may be asked include:

  • Does your child know what they would like to do after finishing at GSSC?
  • What would you like your child to do after finishing at GSSC?
  • What do think are the greatest influences on the choices your child will make about their career choices?

The SEP team wants to hear your thoughts on the topic of career education and the opportunities for work and further education in Greater Shepparton.  These interviews will take place in early September by phone. If you would like to be involved please email us at Shepparton.Education.Plan@edumail.vic.gov.au

Please include the following information in the email:

-  Preferred name

-  Email address

-  Age and year level of child/ren

-  Preferred contact number

-  Preferred time of the day for the phone interview

We will respond to your email and set up a time for the interview.

Please note: If we have a large number of respondents we may not be able to interview everyone and will therefore select a cross-section of parents to ensure representation across year levels.
