Around the school

P & F Meeting

P & F will be holding their next meeting on 27 July at 7 pm in the Staff Admin Building. All welcome.

P & F Date Night

Date night is for you to enjoy some 'child-free' time while your children are supervised by GGOSH staff. It is on Friday 28 August from 6-9 pm. Children will be fed pizza, watch a movie and have a snack. The cost is $5 per family and payment can be made via the QKR! app. Please make sure that you fill out the form on Qkr! to include all children's names and an emergency contact name and number for catering and staffing purposes. Please note, only children over 3 years of age and out of nappies can be catered for at GGOSH.  If your children are already in GGOSH after school, please speak to staff about giving your permission to sign them out of GGOSH and into Date Night. We will advise you of the movie when it has been decided.

GGLPS Umbrellas for sale

P & F have purchased umbrellas with the school's branding. They are available for sale for $30 in the uniform shop.

Post-Covid

  1. Now that restrictions are being lifted, we are able to plan with a little more certainty around our school events. The following has been decided for term 3.
    1. Assembly / Worship: Parents are more than welcome to join us at these two corporate activities, from this Friday with worship. Please note that chairs will be placed around the back of the Worship Centre at a distance of 1.5m. apart. These are not to be moved as adults are still required to practise physical distancing (as a school we are not expected to do this with the students). Families are able to sit closer but it is expected that this protocol is adhered to otherwise we will not be able to welcome parents to these two events.
    2. Volunteers: Volunteers are welcome into classes once again. Teachers will provide information on this in their cluster newsletters later this week.
    3. Camps/excursions: Camps and excursions will recommence this term. The year 3 /4 cluster is planning for their camp mid-way through term 3 and the year 1 / 2 cluster are also in the process of considering their options. More information to follow.
    4. Classroom access: Parents are welcome to be in classrooms once again. However, it is expected that you physically distance in these spaces. The classroom is not space for parents to congregate and mix socially. The purpose of classroom access is to speak with the teacher and/or to spend time with your child. Please don’t place teachers in a situation where they may have to ask you to leave if these protocols are not being followed. Interestingly, many comments (from parents) have been received on how much more responsible students have become without parents being in classrooms. You are encouraged to maintain the practice of allowing your child/ren to unpack their bags themselves (and carry it in), get ready for the day and generally be responsible for the ‘beginning of day’ set up. Maybe even only go into the classroom two or three days a week (instead of five).

Bus route

At the start of this term, a new bus route began for our school students. The bus on this new route will leave Endeavour College and return to GGLPS along Salisbury Highway/Kings Road/McIntyre Road/Golden Way. There will be two pick up points (and drop off points) along Salisbury Highway.  If you would like to use this service could you please call Kuno on 0429 167 659, who will be able to discuss times with you. This service will be of no charge for primary school students.

Reports

School reports will be distributed at the end of next week (31st July). Due to the disruption caused by COVID for a number of weeks, it was decided that a few extra weeks in receiving these were beneficial for the teacher to gather information so that you receive an accurate report of your child’s progress. These will come home in sealed envelopes addressed to parents. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the report please contact your class teacher.

Rock Mandala

Each student painted a rock to reflect something about themselves which is now being put into an art installation in the chill-out zone which represent our community.
