Well-being

Well-being at GGLPS

It is essential that all students in the school feel safe and know that they belong to a supportive and caring environment. Well-being in a broad sense to us incorporates behaviour management, programs to support students socially and emotionally and the development of strategies to act responsibly and aid learning. You are encouraged to discuss these ideas and strategies with your children to reinforce what is happening at school.

I should...

I should have more money…

I should have a happier family…

I should have more sleep…

I should be like the Jones family next door…

I should be …..

Do you ever have these thoughts running through your head? Do your children ever have these thoughts running through their heads? I’m sure at times we can all say yes to some of the above or even some of your own where you are just wishing you had more of this or more of that or were better at this or better at that.

This week our theme at school is being thankful. I read a devotion to the staff today about how thankful I was for surviving a near ferry boat disaster in Egypt. Now I’m not generally talking about massive events like this but I know sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in the trap of wishing for this and wishing for that and not being truly thankful for what you already have.

I love the below post from Mellow Doodles, (I introduced you to her last term) which she talks about just this. I should….

Work out what is right for you and for your children and not worry about what you should or shouldn’t have. It’s easy to get so fixated that sometimes we forget what is truly important and that is to be thankful for what we actually do have. Showing gratitude as we have discussed in the past is a wonderful way to think and certainly helps with our general wellbeing. Have a great week!
