Senior School News

We are extremely proud of the way our senior students and teachers have responded to the second period of remote teaching. The VCE students have continued their progress towards completing their assessments as they work towards exams at the end of the year. Many of these assessments have been done online while others are coming in the next few weeks.

This time of year always brings thoughts and discussions about next year. The Year 12 students have been planning their University/TAFE applications while the Year 10 and 11 students are having their course counselling meeting to submit their subjects for next year. The course counselling team have been working hard in a very different scenario than we are used to but have continued to ensure that all students are able to access a course counselling meeting to discuss their intended career plan and associated VCE subjects.

Over the next few weeks we will be making decisions on how many classes of each subject will run based on student choices. Staff are looking through student selections at the moment to ensure students are recommended to complete the subjects they have chosen. Where classes do not run, if not enough students have chosen that subject, students will be placed in their back up subject.

Once we have completed that part of the process we will create the subject grid and contact any students who have subject clashes. Students should be sent a copy of their subject allocations before the end of term.

I would just like to give a reminder to parents of Year 10 students. Year 10 students need to pass most of their subjects this year to progress to VCE next year. Obviously some allowances will be made in recognition that some students are finding remote learning quite difficult. We can only make allowances up to a certain point as we need to make sure students are ready for the demands of VCE. If you are worried that your child is struggling with attending class and keeping up to date with work please do not hesitate to contact us.

Year 12 News

For our Year 12 students, learning continues at a fast pace regardless of whether it is remote or onsite and I am very proud of the resilience and work ethic that they have shown during this time.  Students are not only completing class work, but at this busy time of the year they are also revising and completing many SACs and meeting outcomes.

My communication with students is either through phone calls, email, google classroom announcements or individual google meets depending on the needs of the student.  I encourage all students and parents to continue to communicate with me regarding any issues that may arise over the next few weeks.  I especially encourage all students to complete their VTAC application, and to ensure that they have all their documentation regarding SEAS and scholarships ready and uploaded by the due dates.

Please see the VTAC important dates below:
