From the Principal Team

Well done and thank you to our entire community for the way you are continuing to manage a very challenging term.  We have all been on quite a learning journey and greatly appreciated everything that you have been doing at home.

In regards to the last week of term and term 4, I have no update from DET at this stage.  As soon as we are informed, be assured I will let you know.

To help parents and carers build family resilience in these difficult times, the Department of Education and Training is presenting a free webinar by renowned child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg.  The webinar will provide some practical skills, knowledge and strategies for managing life in lockdown and in the period of flexible and remote learning.

You will read throughout the newsletter many wonderful reports from our staff and students who are nothing short of absolutely amazing.

It has been wonderful to attend the Year level awards assemblies recently and see our students’ wonderful smiles.

It was exciting to ‘meet’ our Year 7 2021 families – albeit online, last week.  There was so much energy and excitement despite being a virtual meet!

I am delighted that after 12 months we are finally at the point of engaging a contractor for our oval development.  Fingers crossed this will take place in term 4 and be ready for the start of 2021.

Recently our wellbeing team have produced a number of videos to support our students during remote learning. These can be found and viewed on XUNO under the ‘News’ section. The most recent of these is on ‘Procrastination’.

Thank you to all our Year 8 families who attended our ‘Year 9 electives information session’. The submission of forms has now closed. Please contact the college if you have any queries or concerns.

This week there will be an information session for all Year 7 parents on the ‘Chromebook Program’ at 3.30pm on the webex link sent to parents. We look forward to seeing you there.

Just a reminder to support your child in filling out the wellbeing and attendance survey that is sent out daily. This provides important information to us so we can support your child’s wellbeing and check on attendance as required by the Department of Education.

I hope you are all safe and well and managing in this challenging time.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.
