Around the College

Life goes on at school

With a skeleton crew at Glen Eira College, work continues around the grounds and property.

During this works, a cold, unresponsive baby ringtail possum, very close to death, was noticed abandoned in the garden.

After a phone call to Wildlife Victoria for advice, the possum was given body warmth to revive it and after displaying some signs of life, it was given the name of Cinnamon.

Within a short time, a local volunteer came to collect an energetic little Cinnamon and will raise it to adulthood and then release the ringtail back into the environment.

One of the volunteers made a comment that at this time of the year, many baby animals will be lost or abandoned by their mothers. If an injured or abandoned native animal is found, Wildlife Victoria can be contacted on (03) 8400 7300 (to report wildlife emergencies) or on (03) 9445 0310 (for non-emergency enquiries).

Thank you to Tharindu for being attentive enough to notice the animal in strife and taking the time to care.

Thank you to Sarah and the other volunteers at Wildlife Victoria for the huge commitment in time and effort they make to care for our vulnerable native animals.
