SELF-SOOTHE BOX

If you find yourself struggling with feelings of anxiety or panic, a ‘self-soothe box’ is a great way to manage those feelings and help you feel more grounded and relaxed. Create a self-soothe box and fill it with sensory items or cue cards that can help ground and settle any nerves.

What can I put in my soothe box?

Touch: Anything you can touch that is a good distraction for your hands (playdough, fidget spinner, stress ball, textured pillow)

Smell: A candle, something from nature such as a flower, or room sprays.

Memories: Photos of positive memories that prompts feelings of gratitude.

Cue Cards to include in your soothe box

Calming techniques: include cards that will remind you of techniques to help you feel calm and focused. This can include breathing techniques, listening to calming music or observe nature outside.

Activities: Choose an activity that helps soothe you such as colouring in, reading a book, or watching a movie.
