Remote Learning from Home Week 1

Welcome back to Remote Learning from home. By now you would have seen that this time Remote Learning looks a little different. In response to feedback received from families, each subschool has introduced more live elements to the teaching and learning program.

Each subschool has teachers online every day to answer questions. Please check Seesaw Announcements for the times for your subschool.

Classes are meeting more regularly in small and large groups for a catchup and live working. Google Meeting links will be sent out via Seesaw for these meetings.  Certain protocols should be discussed with your child/ren about these meetings.

This shortvideo will help you understand how to join, mute microphone and to turn the camera on/off. Could you please familiarise yourself with the protocols (below) around the appropriate use of this technology?

  • Please ensure your microphone is muted when ‘joining’ the conference.  Staff will then invite you to unmute your microphone.  Please note that students have a choice as to whether they can be ‘seen’  or not.  Although we encourage students to have their camera on (it allows some level of ‘human’ connection in these ‘virtual’ connection times!) this is not compulsory.
  • Students only - only students are to enter the conversation (no siblings/carers/adults where possible).  This is to be treated like a classroom where it is a conversation between the students and teachers.  If your child has access to a set of headphones they should wear these throughout the ‘Meet’.
  • Respectful behaviours towards peers and staff are expected throughout
  • The teacher will remain in the Meet until all students exit.
  • Google meets will be recorded for security purposes and saved on the school Google Drive.
  • All students will ‘arrive’ appropriately dressed e.g. no masks, hats, inappropriate motifs on clothing and so on.
  • Please ensure when your child is filming that there are no undesirable distractions around.

**Please refer to CSPS Remote Learning Policy located on the Cranbourne South PS website.

Your child will receive an invitation to a Google Meet time on Seesaw. This will be posted as an activity and an announcement.

We understand that there are many hats to juggle throughout this time so if you or your child needs to cancel or change their timetabled meeting, please let your classroom teacher know via email or Seesaw message.

Wednesdays are Specialist Days where Ms Curtois, Miss Natalia and Mrs Clements are running lessons. They too are online for catchups throughout this day. All students who complete all of the specialist activities will be entered into a draw to win some great prizes at our next virtual assembly.  Links to these question and answer sessions will be sent out via Seesaw.

Student Feedback

Thank you to all of the families who completed the CSPS Remote Learning Family Feedback at the end of Term 2. This data was very helpful to teachers when designing the Remote Learning program for Term 3. There will be a follow-up family check-in survey for you to fill in after 2 weeks of Remote Learning. This will be sent via Compass. The staff would now like to collect some information from the students about Remote Learning.  This survey can be completed by all students, although our more junior students may need some help with reading the questions. This survey will be open for 2 weeks. Please follow the link below to complete the survey.
