From the Principal

Dear Families of Killester,

Our prayer in this newsletter comes from Ella Pollard in Year 11, her words remind us to all continue to pray for everyone impacted by the virus challenging our society at the moment. I congratulate Ella on her beautiful reflection and today simply use her words:

Please heal those who have been left questioning many things whilst the pandemic has been in play.....Thank You God, for healing the earth during the virus, thank you for healing those who have survived the virus.

Ella Pollard

Remote Learning commenced this week for all students in Years 7 - 12. Our feedback is telling us that students are well engaged with their learning and are utilising the KOOL website again to access their work. I would like to take this opportunity to ensure parents are aware that the KOOL website has a link to #metime. Time has been allocated on a Wednesday for students to spend on their wellbeing- physical, mental and spiritual. The #metime link has a wonderful array of activities and challenges for students to complete to ensure they remain focussed on sustaining all elements of their lives. Next week we will be opening the 'Remote Learning Hints' link that provides students with additional information that focuses specifically on the challenges of Remote Learning. In particular there will be tips for sustaining motivation and organisation whilst learning from home. I encourage all parents to take some time to look through the KOOL website and discover the wonderful world of a Remote Learning at Killester.

Student Learning Conversations were held online last evening with staff and families of students in Year 12 or those completing a Unit 3/4 study whilst in Year 11. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive in regard to both attendance at, and effectiveness of, this way of having our discussions with families. Further information will be released in the coming weeks about the implementation of these for students in Years 7 - 11.

Tomorrow, Friday 7 August,  between midday and 1:00pm our VCAL class will be gracing the airwaves as they recorded their first SYN FM broadcast earlier in the week. Congratulations to the VCAL class and Ms Scott for this wonderful initiative. I am very much looking forward to the program tomorrow.

Families are reminded that the College is now closed. The office phones will be attended between 8:00am and 4:00pm, should you have any concerns or enquires these can be addressed during these times. Please call the office on 9547 5000 for any enquiries.
