Students Thriving
Music News
Remote learning is never getting in the way of Mrs. Toulmin and her year 7 SEAL music class achieving their goals to present a concert at the end of the semester! It has been a mammoth effort to record all the students individual parts and have our resident sound engineer, Mr. Clisby, put all our tracks together to come up with a concert of 7 pieces! Everyone worked so hard to put this virtual concert together, and we'd like to thank our instrumental teachers (Mr. Jacob Mailes, Ms. Sally Dymke, Mrs. Toulmin and Mr. Skillington) for pushing our students along to ensure they had their chance to shine in our recordings. We'd also like to thank Mr. Clisby for all his work in putting some 25 individual tracks together for our final, mastered sound. Well done to all the students and staff involved in the project- WE DID IT!!!!
We have also been given the green light to start up band rehearsals again next term! WOOHOO!! I'm so excited to get started! All Music Academy bands will recommence in the first week back, and we're ready and raring to go! Enjoy your holidays everyone!
VCAL Gardening
Intermediate VCAL students learnt so much from their remote learning individual projects that they have returned to school with an incredible ‘can do’ attitude. They have been working hard over the past three weeks to transform the garden beds outside the U Wing.
The students have planned and most importantly, put in the physical effort to create an area that is starting to look awesome. There is more work to be done with seating and more planting to come as we create a communal space to be proud of. They are working brilliantly together and it is clear that they have missed being together at school.
Their achievements would not have been possible without the unconditional support of Phil and Matho - Thank you.
We would also like to thank Midfield Meats for their kind donation in 2019, and for their ongoing support this year.
THE RETURN
A collaboration of ideas from year 10 students across three subject areas have produced a body of images and texts, as a response to the Covid-19 virus. Students have researched, created and exhibited a range of personal perspectives, documenting how the pandemic has changed the world around them.
The work will be collated as part of the Warrnambool College, Art collection.
Rising Star
Former Warrnambool College student, Tommy Jackson was recently offered a rookie contract for Cricket Victoria's Men's Squad. A fantastic achievement after a lot of hard work and effort. We look forward to watching you make a few more tons and wish you all the best for your cricketing career Tommy - well done!
