School Information
Attendance
We have been working hard behind the scenes to develop a process to ensure all students are attending school as much as possible. Our end goal is to ensure every student is attending every class, every day. We are currently trialling a system where we monitor a student’s attendance in every class and when an irregularity shows up (not present in a class when they have been present during the day) it will be followed up immediately and if required, contact will be made home to discuss the absence.
We ask for family support in regards to attendance
Students must not leave campus without parental/guardian permission that is lodged on Compass or documentation provided to the Front Office. Students can’t sign out and leave without consent from home.
The options that families have to provide consent to leave campus include:
- Approve via Compass
- Pick up student from campus - must sign out at Front Office
- Send email to Warrnambool College - warrnambool.co@education.vic.gov.au
- SMS to school mobile phone: 0488 828 826 - must include student name, time of departure and parent/guardian name.
- Student to bring signed parent/carer note and present to front office.
If we do not receive any notification of a student departure from school, at any point across the school day, then we do not have accurate attendance data and you will receive contact from the school (SMS, email or phone call) in regards to this.
Triple P - Positive Parenting Program
Families can now access free expert parenting advice through the online Triple P – Positive Parenting Program. The program is relevant to families with children between 2 and 16 years and provides strategies to deal with specific challenges, such as building children’s resilience and dealing with conflict. There are courses specifically for parents of toddlers to tweens, and for parents of pre-teens to teens.
It gives parents strategies to:
- raise happy, confident kids
- manage misbehaviour so everyone in the family enjoys life more
- set rules and routines that everyone respects and follows
- encourage positive behaviour
