Year 12 exams

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) has released the 2020 exam timetable for all Year 12 exams. Students and parents/carers should carefully read through the timetable available here at the VCAA website.

The VCAA has also announced that students will receive their Year 12 results on Wednesday 30 December this year. First round university offers through VTAC will be made to students on Thursday 14 January. Further information regarding Term 4 key dates for Koonung Secondary College students will be made available shortly.

VCE remote learning and assessment - Term 3

Due to the government announcement of Stage 4 restrictions, tomorrow Tuesday 4 August will be a student-free day and all VCE classes from Wednesday 5 August until the end of Term 3 will be undertaken remotely. Please see the below information as well as the attached documents concerning the operation of teaching, learning and assessment for this remote period.

  • Students will receive direct instruction from teachers at the beginning of ALL scheduled classes via Zoom. This is a change from our previous remote learning period due to student and parent/carer feedback. If students are unable to attend a scheduled Zoom class due to illness or personal circumstance parents/carers should approve the absence as they would an on-site absence using the Compass portal.
  •  All VCE assessments including Year 12 SAC’s will now be done remotely in-line with our 2020 KSC Remote SAC Policy published in early Term 2.- Year 12 Assemblies will run each week via Zoom and Year 11 Assemblies will run on a needs basis via Zoom.
  • The General Achievement Test (GAT) has been postponed by the VCAA until Wednesday 7 October in the first week of Term 4. This test is of crucial importance this year and ALL students undertaking Unit 3/4 subjects must sit this exam.- All other VCAA exam and result dates remain unchanged.
  • Staff members at the college will be making regular contact with Year 12 students outside of their class time to check in and offer support.
  • The Careers Team will be running a session for VTAC (University and TAFE) applications next Monday Periods 3&4 for Year 12 students. They will also be booking in 1:1 Zoom meetings with Year 12 students to discuss their pathways for next year.

While we know there may be challenges in the transition back to remote learning, the way our VCE students rose to the challenge in Term 2 as well as their dedication and hard work so far this term gives us great confidence that we can achieve strong student outcomes in 2020. Below is a list of key contact email addresses if specific assistance or guidance is needed during the remote learning period and beyond.
