Music students aren't letting lockdown get in the way of their learning

Remote learning has created some new challenges for students who take instrumental lessons.

Although our junior students are back in remote learning, this hasn’t stopped Year 7 student Alysha Clegg (7G) from keeping her love for music going. Alysha has been playing piano for 8 years and taking voice lessons for 5 years. She is a very keen performer and performs as a member of the Australian Girls Choir.

Alysha Clegg -  The KSC music program is very inclusive. I auditioned to hopefully be part of the ensemble cast in this year’s school musical ‘All Shook Up’.

Click on the video to listen to Alysha perform Let It Be by The Beatles.

Year 10 students Keiko Rice (10E) and Amelie Storrar-Carey (10F) have also found innovative ways of continuing their love of music. Now that lessons are back on Zoom and they are unable to sing together, these two students have become a little creative! Armed with technology, the three of us worked as a team to put together this video performance. Although it doesn’t beat singing together in person, this might be the way of music performances for the foreseeable future.

Please enjoy Keiko and Amelie’s performance of La Meme, a song that features the girls’ talents and love for the French language.

Tehmi Harding (7G)

Well done to Year 7 instrumental music student Tehmi Harding who continues to practise the trombone at home while learning remotely. Tehmi  has sent in the following work and is accompanied by her brother Ben (9D) on the bass.

Chenyang Wu (12F)

Chenyang was inspired by a soundtrack that he had heard sometime ago. From memory he created the following beautiful work.
