Year 7 News

Final Weeks Learning Tasks and Common Assessment Tasks (CATs)
Year 7 students have been experiencing their final opportunities this term to revisit learning and show how they have progressed since the unit pre-tests. Visiting practical subjects such as Music, Art, Woodwork and Drama, it’s clear that students’ skills have grown, that learning has been fun, they are willing to have a serious go at unfamiliar challenges and are proud of what has been achieved.
We wish all students success in demonstrating how much they have improved and that they have done their best during Term 4.
Advanced Learners Program Students (ALPS)
Students who gained a successful test result and joined our 2022 ALPS class have continued to demonstrate they are up to the challenge of greater effort and deeper exploration and application of their learning knowledge and skills. A review of each student has occurred this semester, especially where students have been unable to reach and maintain strong Learning Behaviour Update scores after guidance on how this can be achieved.
Learning and Participating in Different Ways on Special Days.
Year 7 students keenly participated in the Medieval Day, pictured enjoying the food and entertainment. Great to see those brave knights who dressed up for the occasion and complimented teachers for their costumes and hard work to make the day an education about life 600 or more years ago.
Hands on Learning
Numerous Year 7 students have earnt a position in the Hands On Learning program. Several students have been invited to trial the team work, skills and positive atmosphere which sees them leave their classes for a day each week. Maintaining a positive attitude and work ethic in classes and appropriate is a condition of remaining in Hands-on.
2022 Thinking Championships
Specially considered groups of Year 7s formed countries they may never have heard of to participate in various activities, some being awarded with medals to mark their success! A spirit of competition prevailed throughout the week with students forming positive, supportive relationships with each other.
