Principal's Message

with Ms Reynolds

The photo above shows one the the places I camped in the Daintree Rainforest national park - such a beautiful and relaxing spot - and older than the Amazon!

Mid-term 4 already!

Here we are almost at the half-way point in the term! My the year has flown. I would like to thank Mrs Sarah Mellish for relieving as principal while I had an extended holiday up in far north Queensland. Mrs Mellish had the support of Mrs Faghani and the executive team and did a great job of starting the term smoothly with such a focus on learning in all its forms.

The first few weeks of this term have seen the following fabulous programs:

  • 3-6 Open mornings and K-2 open Storytime afternoons
  • a Stage 2 excursion to the Botanic Gardens
  • a Stage 3 excursion to Riverside for a science extravaganza
  • Fantasy Fun Day dress-up and fundraiser
  • Learning Conversations start for Stage 2
  • AFL coaching sessions for all students
  • World Teachers Day (thank you to the P&C, families and the children who recognised their teacher on that special day)
  • Playgroup continues on a Wednesday
  • Kindy Transition begin this week (every Wednesday morning now for 6 weeks)
  • Auditions held for our GEPS-Idol talent quest held at the end of term, and
  • a Pizza party with the Principal today - for students who received a Prostar award this year!
Happy Teachers Day!

Auburn Network Awards

Our school put forward Mrs Borel for a recognition award at the network of Auburn schools. Congratulations Mrs Susan Borel!

Susan has been a member of the GEPS team for many years - always assisting in the library to support wide reading across our school.  This year, Susan has stepped up - leading the whole-school library program in the absence of a teacher librarian.

Susan is incredibly well-read; knowledgeable about children's literature; and is able to match a book to almost every child!  She has taken on the challenge of running library lessons, supporting Book week, making sure Book club is offered and supporting our teaching staff with resources and advice on curriculum supports.

Susan h as gone the extra mile for GEPS this year, ensuring that our school library is open, accessible and a vibrant place for all.
