Visual Art

Hello Amazing Artists!

I am incredibly excited for another fantastic term of learning and creativity in the Art Room. This term learners will be investigating a range of different ideas and concepts and creating artworks using a variety of materials and techniques.

PREP:

In Term 4 students will work towards designing and creating a t-shirt that will be used in their end of year celebrations. They will reflect on all they have learnt in their first year of school and transfer this understanding through pictures. Through this process they will develop their painting skills and understanding of using a paintbrush in different ways.

YEAR 1:

This term students will be transferring their understanding of Texture to create a range of textures through collaged paper. Students will create backgrounds with a focus on patterns and lines and then create a personalised burger that will use a variety of paper collaging techniques such as cutting, tearing, overlapping and scrunching. Throughout this project students will gain a deeper understanding into the purpose of texture in Art.

YEAR 2:

Throughout Term 4 students will be investigating the artwork of Australian Artist Pete Cromer. They will unpack his collaged animal artworks. Students will be challenged to create their own artwork of a Kangaroo inspired by the artwork style and technique of Pete Cromer, with a focus on creating different textures and patterns when painting.

YEAR 3:

Throughout this term, learners will be gaining a deep understanding of colour theory with a particular focus on mixing colours. Learners will investigate mixing tints and shades and creating a value scale with acrylic paint. Learners will then transfer this knowledge to the creation of an artwork heavily focusing on the use of tints and shades.

YEAR 4:

During Term Four, students in year 4 will be deepening transferring their drawing skills from last term into highly detailed and refined final artwork of personal choice. They will be able to identify their drawing interests and their goal for their finished artwork. Students will be challenged to develop new skills and techniques, and to use their goals to direct their learning.

YEAR 5:

Throughout Term 4 students will be investigating the artwork of Aboriginal Artist Tony Albert. They will unpack his mosaic like drawings and the way he uses his art to represent his identity. Students will be challenged to create their own artwork that represents who they are, their personal interests and their identity. Throughout this process students will develop their drawing skills with a focus on attention to detail.

YEAR 6:

This term learners will be transferring their knowledge of light reflection taught in their inquiry unit in the form of a 3D Artwork. With a focus on patterns and angles, students will be designing their own 3D sculpture that will reflect and refract light. Throughout this process students will deepen their knowledge of pattern making, sculptural techniques and the purpose of a design process.
