Kids Conference at Melbourne University

The 2022 Kids Conference was held at Melbourne University early November. The conference facilitated students to showcase their learnings to other students and teachers through new approaches to Digital Technology in the History, Geography, Science and English classrooms.

In 2022, the presentations were given by students from secondary schools around Melbourne including Scotch College [Improvisation Band – Make It Up Club], Xavier College [National History Challenge], Melbourne Girls Grammar [Quantum Physics - VCE Physics], University High [Clean water and sanitation – future solutions], Templestowe College [Synthesis of Bioethanol – VCE Chemistry] and Cranbourne Secondary College [Standing inside a camera – creating a camera obscura].

The Academy were fortunate to have two Year 9 student groups presenting their work:

  • eBraille : Evie Morris, Alice Portz, Amelia Grbac and Olivia Leahy
  • Mental Health for Young People : Julianna La Terra, Sienna Komarnycki, Emily Roberts and Serena Barbaro

The two groups performances were outstanding with all participants presenting with confidence and clarity. All students had a valuable experience presenting their work and answering audience questions. Both groups were encouraged to take their ideas to the next level.

We were all inspired by the great work presented by all students and particularly proud of the way our girls represented themselves and the College.

Congratulations to our Year 9 student presenters for this great achievement and I look forward to seeing what our students will do next.
