BOB

Our Amazing Show Band

The following is a letter received from the Sebastopol and District Lions Club in response to a fundraising activity our Music Department was involved in during term 3.

"The Club has just presented a cheque to the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre for close on $1,500.00. As you would be aware, BRICC, is the nominated charity where the money from the band nights goes to. This money has been accumulating over a few years and it was good that we could give BRICC the money to buy what they wanted. They wanted  quite a few things for the Centre that they could not get funding for, so they were very surprised and happy to be able to get everything on their shopping list."

Ron Thomas from the Sebastopol Lions Club, sent us this lovely letter in gratitude for our work in contributing to this celebrated community resource. This year saw the return of the Lions Club School Bands Extravaganza featuring Ballarat High School's 40 piece show band, BOB, together with ensembles from Phoenix P-12 Community College and Woodman’s Hill Secondary College.

This type of community engagement is of great benefit to all involved in undertaking such a worthwhile cause and celebrating state school musicians in the process. All students and staff involved were a credit to their respective schools and wonderful ambassadors for state education.

The support, encouragement and organisation provided by the Sebastopol Lions Club and Ron Thomas in particular is very much appreciated. We look forward to continuing this fantastic tradition next year, in collaboration with the Club and our colleagues from other local secondary schools.
