Principal's Report

A WET WINTER AND SPRING

Right now, our playgrounds are as wet as I have seen them.  So wet in fact, a natural spring has decided to run up near the BER at our Buninyong Campus, which has added to the volume of water around.

Unfortunately, this all means our ovals are out of action and play options are reduced because of damp and muddy conditions.  As always, we’ll do our best to make sure the kids have other opportunities during break times, whether that be having a run around in the gym, lunch time club or hanging out in the library.  The multi-purpose room at Scotsburn is a great resource during times like this as well.

Hopefully conditions will dry out a little over the coming few weeks and we’ll get back to normal soon enough.

SLEEP OVERS

Our P-2 Sleep Over at Scotsburn and 1/2 Sleep Over at Buninyong were very successful last week.  The kids certainly had a great time, and the experience will stand them in good stead for over night stays in the future.  There were certainly some tired faces getting about on Friday.

The staff did a fantastic job organising and running these events and their efforts are appreciated.  It was fantastic to see a large number of parents join in, whether that be staying the night or helping out with breakfast in the morning.  Your efforts are also greatly appreciated.

NEW SHADE SAILS

Twelve months ago we were successful with grant applications for a shade sail structure at both campuses.  It’s been quite a wait but work on those structures commenced this week.  The poles are in at Buninyong and the holes are dug at Scotsburn.  Unfortunately, rain held the contractors up yesterday at Scotsburn, but the poles will be concreted in on Friday.

Then the sails will go up in a few weeks.  We asked the children to choose the sail colours and I’m sure they’ll be excited to see them go up.

The shade provided by these structures will be welcome (when the sun decides to come out again) and no doubt both will look spectacular as well.

PARENT REQUESTS FOR CLASS PLACEMENT 2023

A reminder that you have until November 7 to let us know if you have significant issues we need to be aware of when allocating your child to a class for 2023.  Those messages can be communicated with your child’s teacher or one of the principal team members.  See last week’s newsletter for more detail relating to placement requests.
