Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

A big thank you again to everyone for their support with last week's camps.  While we had a lot of very tired students by the end of the week, the experience was definitely worth all the effort.  For highlights from the camps, please refer to the Classroom News page of this newsletter.

Thank you to those parents who have offered to assist with swim coaching during this year's swimming program.  We are really appreciative of the number of responses we have had to this request and are pleased to advise that we now have enough instructors for our program.

Today, all students in Prep-6 had the opportunity to attend a performance with the Vegetable Plot band.  Many thanks to the Alpine Shire for providing this opportunity for our Prep/1 students and also to Emily, for liaising with the band to organise an additional performance for our Year 2-6 students.

Tomorrow is World Teacher's Day and a chance to thank and celebrate our wonderful team of teachers who continue to work tirelessly to provide our students with the very best opportunities we can.  This year's NAPLAN results again highlighted their combined efforts to raise educational outcomes. Our school outperformed similar and network schools for the number of students achieving in the top 2 bands in Reading, Spelling, Numeracy, Grammar and Punctuation at both Year 3 and Year 5.  This is a great achievement and one that we can all be very proud of.

Guy will also return tomorrow to lead our Year 3-6 students in the MAT (Martial Arts Therapy) program.

A reminder that this coming Monday, the 31st October, is a curriculum day and a pupil free day for all students.  OSHC will be operating for those families who require childcare on the day.  Bookings are essential, so please book online or contact Kath on 0418399861.  There will be no school or OSHC on Tuesday 1st November due to the Melbourne Cup public holiday.

A big thank you to our very own 'Music Master' Angela who has brought back the weekly music theme and lunchtime dance party!  Have you worked out this week's theme?  So far there have been over 150 guesses!

Next Wednesday, students in Prep - 2 will travel to Dederang for the Junior Sports Day.  Please ensure consent is provided on Compass and, if you haven't already done so, that all meal deal orders and money are returned by tomorrow at the latest.

This term's parent teacher interviews will be held from the 7th - 10th November.  Bookings will be held face to face and information on how to book an appointment will be sent out in the coming week.  If you require an online booking, please contact your child's teacher to arrange this.
