What's happening in our classrooms

The Grade 3 students have had a very busy first half of Term 4. Our classrooms have been a hive of activity. We are very proud of the amazing work and efforts that the students have put in. As well as working hard within the classroom students had an amazing time at the Mt Evelyn camp and the Woodworking incursion.

Woodwork Incursion

On Tuesday the 25th of October the Grade 3 students participated in a woodwork incursion in the Hive. They were shown how to use various tools and constructed their own racing car and driver.

Literacy

This term students have been learning about response texts. They have been studying a variety of different types of responses to things such as art, travel locations, books, TV shows (Masterchef, MKR, Dancing with the Stars, etc) and restaurants. Students have learnt about the structure and features of response texts, such as positive and negative judgement words, context statements and tenses. Ms G and Mrs Elliott  are so excited to see the writing they produce as the term progresses.

Mathematics

The students are continuing to focus on division and its relationship with multiplication. Students have been working in groups and used concrete materials to show their understanding of division. They are able to verbalise the problem, equation sentence and answer. They relate their understanding to multiplication as a means to check their work.

They have also been learning about area and understand that it is the space inside a 2D shape. They are able to measure area by  using informal and formal units.

Inquiry

Students have been learning about Respectful Relationships during our inquiry sessions. We have focused on emotions and how to be respectful and inclusive to all. Students have learnt about the effect of their actions on others, both at home and at school.
