REMEMBRANCE DAY

This Remembrance Day we join the world in honouring the veterans who have died while serving in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

This year our students will attend the Rushworth RSL service at the War Memorial in High St.  We will lay a wreath in memory of all who have served and in memory of those families affected by conflict.  Remembrance Day services around the country are held at 11.00am on the 11th day of the 11th month which marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War 1.

Poppies are a wonderful way to support the veterans and their families.

In Flanders Fields. By John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mask our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:                                                  POPPIES IN FLANDERS FIELD

To you from falling hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

HALLOWEEN DISCO

By all accounts the Halloween disco was very successful and our student cohort thoroughly enjoyed the event.  Many thanks to the Parents and Friends who worked tirelessly to set up and supervise.

ST MARY’S FETE

Our Parents and Friends have been working hard to bring the school fete together.

Given that we haven’t had a fete for 2 years we are hoping that 2022 will be a successful evening.  Families have been rostered on to help at various stalls and the P&F have asked that you advise if you are going to be away and unable to assist.

This is our major fundraiser for the school year and if successful the funds support your children’s educational endeavours in the way of resources.

ZOO EXCURSION

Our Melbourne Botanical Zoo Excursion will be held next Monday November 14th.

There is a new permission form on PAM which you are required to complete please.  Students are asked to be at school by 6.45am as the bus will be leaving at 7.00am sharp.  The bus is expected to arrive back to school at approximately 5.30pm.
