IELC
Melbourne Museum & IMAX Excursion
On Friday 4 November, the IELC embarked on another outing to explore marvellous Melbourne. We visited the Melbourne Museum. The students were mesmerised by the ‘Tyama; multisensory digital experience and gained a deeper understanding of First People’s connection to nature. Students were fascinated by the ‘Dinosaur Walk’ exhibition and totally engrossed in the ‘Bugs Alive’ collection.
We gathered around the ancient Kauri pine and attempted to count the rings on this 600 year old tree. We tried to imagine what this land looked like six centuries ago. Then we were off to the IMAX theatre to watch ‘The Wild Top End’ in 3D. Now this was an experience. The stunning visuals of the cascading waterfalls in the Kimberley and the menacing crocodiles of Arnhem Land had us jumping out of our seats.
As we come to the end of the IELC 20-week program, the students would like to extend their thanks to the Macleod College community. Students and teachers have gone out of their way to make the IELC students feel welcome. The IELC students would especially like to thank the Macleod College sport department and Ms Spinks in particular, for organising a netball and football clinic hosted by her Year 10 students. As well as organising the IELC badminton tournament.
We wish the IELC students every success as they graduate from the Macleod College Intensive English Language Centre, and they embark on the next journey in their education in Melbourne.
