School Starters @ DPS

Our DPS Transition Program

We have randomly divided our School Starters into three groups – Koalas, Kangaroos and Wombats.

All sessions will run from 9.15-10.30am. 

 

School Starters Transition Program

These sessions are an opportunity for your child to become familiar with their school environment, teachers and peers.  We aim to ensure a strong sense of connection to DPS. All children are required to bring a drink bottle containing water, a small snack and sun smart hat in a small backpack/bag.

 

The transition dates are – 

Thursday 5th October 

Parent Information Evening - Junior School Building

This session is specifically designed for parents/carers to develop an understanding of everything they need to know about the Transition program. Time 4.45pm

Friday 13th OctoberTransition Session 1: 9:15-10:30 Getting to know my  school  and teachers
Friday 20th October Transition Session 2: 9:15-10:30 Getting to know my  school  and teachers
Friday 27th OctoberTransition Session 3: 9:15-10:30 Getting to know my school and teachers
Friday 3rd November 

Transition Session 4: 9:15-10:30 Specialists session

Students will learn about Sport, Science and Art with the Specialist teachers 

Friday 10th November 

Chat and Play 9:15-10:30 

Come and have a chat and play with other school starters, parents and teachers on the Junior School Playground 

 

Tuesday 21st November Meet the Teacher: Students will meet their 2024 classroom teacher and peers. Time TBC

We ask that you follow these procedures when attending our School Starters Transition Program-

  1. Bring your child to the Junior School Building at 9:15.
  2. Find the sign on the door with the group your child is in, eg. Koalas, Kangaroos or Wombats. Sign them in
  3. Place bags/lunchboxes in a locker (any locker)
  4. Take your child to a table activity (fine motor skills) to settle them in
  5. We kindly ask that you leave once your child has settled in
  6. At pick up (10:30), please pick up your child from the mat and sign them out.
  7. Please drop off and pick up your child ON TIME to ensure the smooth running of the program for everyone involved
