Lunchtime League
Our first season of Lunchtime League drew to a close on the last day of Term 2. Students from Year 5 to 12 have been competing in the sport of netball with some new additions to the team line up and competition format this year. Select teachers took the court with our teams and after several rounds of competition, we landed ourselves in the grand final with Mavericks coming up against The Jungle.
With the game not blowing out any more than a one point lead for each team, Mavericks clinched the win to take out the season one championship trophy finishing with a total of 9 points to 8. A big congratulations to team captain Jett B and teacher representatives Mrs Robinson and Mr Tinetti. Stay tuned for our next season update as we change sports, switch up the teams and head into season two for Term 3.

Junior School AFL Clinic
Year 1, 2 and 4 were fortunate to participate in an AFL Clinic run by AFL Victoria on Wednesday 19th July. The muddy conditions didn't deter students from having a wonderful time incorporating running, kicking, handballing and working together as a team.

SSV State Cross Country Championships
Yarra Valley Racecourse witnessed an exhilarating display of athletic prowess on July 13, as young runners from across Victoria competed in the School Sports Victoria State Cross Country Championships. The sun shone brightly, setting the stage for an exciting day of intense competition. Among the talented athletes was Sigmund I (former Year 9 student), representing King’s College, who showed remarkable sportsmanship, wishing others well as they gathered in the marshalling area.
Right from the starting gun, Sigmund made his mark on the race with an incredible burst of speed. His blistering start caught the attention of the crowd, as he swiftly took the lead in the first 400 meters. It was a moment of glory for the young King’s athlete, who demonstrated his determination and eagerness to represent his school with distinction.
Throughout the event, Sigmund maintained his strong performance, navigating the challenging cross-country course with finesse and tenacity. The undulating terrain tested the stamina and endurance of every participant, and Sigmund rose to the occasion finding his rhythm and pushing his limits to cross the finish line in 81st place out of 100 athletes. It was an impressive feat, considering the fierce competition and the gruelling nature of the course.
The final moments of the race were perhaps the most awe-inspiring, as Sigmund, covered in mud, unleashed a burst of energy for a sprint finish. With every stride, he strove for personal best. Sigmund's performance, at the State Cross Country Championships, modelled the virtues of hard work, dedication, and the unwavering pursuit of personal goals. His determination, sportsmanship and commitment, mark him as a true champion.
