Year 9/10 Global Worlds Guest Speaker

Recently the Year 9/10 Global Worlds elective class was lucky enough to have local Tasmanian identity Robert Jarman visit their class to talk about his time in Israel-Palestine.  The significance of guest speakers sharing their experiences with students cannot be overstated. Guest speakers bring a firsthand insight that textbooks alone cannot provide.  Robert provided students with an invaluable opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-life applications. Thank you to Mrs Blythe Cooper for organising his visit.

“On June 8th, our year 9/10 Global Worlds class were paid a visit by Robert, who had volunteered to report in Palestine last year. As part of our “Who owns Land?” unit, the main focus was the Palestine-Israeli conflict and how it came to be. Robert spoke about confronting topics like the dehumanisation of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and how Zionism and Islamophobia fuel this conflict. We were able to gain a deeper perspective and ascertain a realistic point of view as opposed to the things seen in the media regarding the Palestine-Israeli conflict”.
