Vinnies Winter Warmth Appeal

Until the end of Term Two, students across the College are encouraged to bring in winter woolies for those less fortunate than us in our community and are sleeping on the streets these cold nights.

Donations of warm items such as coats, scarves, beanies, gloves, socks, blankets & sleeping bags will be "warmly" received.

Primary students can bring donations into their classroom and Secondary students can take to morning clan or anyone can drop off into the boxes in the College Library.

The last day for donations will be on Mount Carmel Day - Friday 7 July.

Mount Carmel Day

Consideration for others has always featured as part of our Mount Carmel Day celebrations and this year is no different.

Over the years we have supported local, national and international organisations whose primary aim is to reach out to the margins and assist those most in need.  For 2023, we are revisiting a school that we have supported a number of times over the last twenty-one years since The School of St Jude, Tanzania was established.

The School of St Jude is a pioneering leader in charitable education within Africa. St Jude’s provides free, quality education to 1,800 bright primary and secondary students who come from considerably poor backgrounds. St Jude’s was established by Gemma Sisia, a former student of a Sister of Charity school in Sydney, St Vincent’s College, who went on to become a teacher. Gemma’s big dream was to bring the opportunity of free, quality education to children living in poverty. But, the support doesn’t stop there... Beyond St Jude’s (BSJ) is an optional program that enables St Jude’s secondary graduates to give back to their communities as volunteers during a Community Service placement. They then go on to access higher education, supported by our sponsors and donors.

Students who participate in the dress up on Mount Carmel Day are asked to bring a gold coin donation for The School of St Jude. Families ae also asked to consider a donation and this can be done via the Qkr! app, the same app that the College uses for Canteen lunch orders.
