Congratulations to students who have been selected to represent Tasmania at the gymnastics Bigham Cup in South Australia from 31 August to 2 September.  Sasha Curtayne (Year 4) is selected in the Level 6 Team, and Stella Cranefield (Year 8) has been selected as a reserve for the Level 7 Team. A great reward for all the hard work they do at training.

Water Polo Finalists

It’s an exciting night at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre tonight, as Mount Carmel are represented in the Year 7/8 Water Polo Semi Final.  At 5pm, the Year 7/8 team are playing off in the 1 v 4 semi final, against the highly fancied Taroona team.   Good luck to the team!

Primary Hockey

The Primary Hockey rosters will draw to a close this Saturdays.  The students have done a fabulous job committing to the roster on a Saturday morning.  Well done particularly to the early years students who were trying hockey for the first time.  The experienced Year 2 students have done a great job supporting the younger and less experienced players in their first season.

The Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams enjoyed their season in combined teams with St Mary’s.  The Year 3/4 team has had strong season, playing in the higher division.  The Open Primary team will play against Fahan this Saturday in their play-off for 7th position.

Thanks to all the families for their support with these teams, and particularly Kathryn Patmore, Lou Christie, Katie Klasen for coaching and managing teams, and students Sadie Rogers, Keshi Kesavanarayanan, Ava Cuatt-Bett and Amelia Mason for taking lunch time trainings.

The Year 2 - 6 students have another opportunity to play school hockey in Term 3 with afternoon rosters at the Hockey Centre on turf.

Secondary Netball

Well done to all our Year 7, 8 and 9 Netball teams, that concluded their rosters this week. It was wonderful to see some many students having a go at netball.  We had many students doing netball for the first time, which is not always easy.  The improvement in teams as the season progressed was outstanding. Special thanks to our coaches Lucy Henderson, Hannah Fleck, Renee Frost, Anne Haward, Louise Ims, Rosanne Hurd, Janelle Kingston and Ainslie Timbs.  These teams are only possible with the support of parents/carers and family members, and it was also wonderful to have the involvement of staff members this term too. Year 8 student, Ava McLeod, was also a great help, filling in as an umpire a late notice.

The Year 8 Gold Division 1 team, finished their season in agonising 3rd place, from 8 teams, narrowly missing out on the grand final.

Term 3 Sports

Term 3 sporting teams are now being finalised and roster information will be emailed to participants and parents/carers over the coming weeks.  There are still some teams that require or can accommodate extra players, so please sign up now if you don’t want to miss out. .
