Book Fair Results and Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent Scholastic Book Fair.

We made $3071 which enabled us to select $672 worth of books for our school.

Many thanks to:  Cynthia Timoti, Sarah Jensen and Deborah Bowers who generously gave us their time to help run the Book Fair.

Over the next few weeks our students will be reading our wonderful new purchases for the Library.

Many thanks,

Mathematics

One of the many great questions that I constantly get asked, is what games and/or resources that parents can use to support their child’s understanding of Maths. .

Listed below are a few FREE apps and games that you can play with your children at home.

Marble Math Junior

Marble Math Junior is designed to help kids in elementary school practice early math, mastering basic math skills like counting and addition. The game features interactive mazes where students must roll a virtual marble to the correct answer, using problem-solving skills as they go.

Using their Parent Connect App, you can get notifications on progress improvement and skill completions.

Nine Gaps - App

NineGaps is an educational game that allows kids to practice arithmetic in a race against time. Kids drag digits 1 through 9 to empty slots in the equations, using each number only once. Numbers must be placed so the vertical and horizontal equations are all correct. Five challenge levels allow kids at multiple ability levels to play. Addition, subtraction, and multiplication are included in each level; division also appears in some levels. When numbers for one equation are placed so the equation is true, chimes play. Trumpets play when an equation is incorrect. To swap numbers, drag one number on top of another, and they'll trade places. The game's high score list shows the fastest time for each level.

Number Hive

Number Hive is a math app that encourages students and adults to learn multiplication through play. This strategy maths game challenges you to use multiplication to connect four hexagons in a row to win! Think of Number Hive as ‘Times Tables meets Chess’. You will need to stop your opponent by blocking their moves at the same time as connecting your hexagons. The game builds engagement, confidence and mathematical fluency. Practice against our AI, or challenge your friends and see who's the best.

Number Hive is great for schools or parents looking to grow their child's confidence in math! Teachers can set up their classrooms and get students to play this math game online.

Feel Free to try them and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself with your own skills!
