YEAR 10 MACBETH PERFORMANCE

In Year 10 English, we have been studying William Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth”, which revolves around the main themes of loyalty, guilt, innocence, and fate.

The Complete Works Theatre Company came to our school and performed an entertaining live action version of Macbeth to help further improve our understanding of the play. The three special guests, Andrew, Cassidy, and Heath put on an engaging performance. This play was really beneficial for us to see in person, as we have our Macbeth learning task coming up in the next few weeks.

The performance consisted of numerous entertaining props which were altered at every scene, keeping us on the edge of our seats. They did an amazing job at hastily changing clothes, with the brilliant ability to change between characters in the matter of seconds!

At the end, we got the opportunity to ask them questions to further develop our understanding of the characters and themes, and why they thought that Shakespeare wrote his play the way he did.

We were extremely fortunate for the opportunity to see such an elaborate and entertaining live action play, truly bringing our imaginations to life.

YEAR 11 ENGLISH FOCUS GROUP - 2024 TEXT SELECTION

2024 will see the implementation of the new English Study Design at Year 12. A part of this involves the selection of new texts to be studied. To help the faculty choose texts, the Year 12 English teachers convened a focus group of selected Year 11 students to contribute their thoughts on the texts they would like to study next year.

The eight students read each of the short-listed texts then met with staff to provide their thoughts on the merit of each. These students were insightful, reflective and honest. They are to be commended for taking the time to help the English faculty and for providing a voice for their cohort’s education.

Stay tuned for an announcement on the texts chosen for 2024.

Thank you to Grace Snook, Jack Graffeo, Rowen Hull, Jared Marotta, Isabella Chang Wollmann, Lucas Tran, Jack Sweeney and Kristiana Vasilakopoulos.
