A BUSY TIME DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A STRESSFUL TIME
A brief yet timely reminder
As we move through the term and edge closer to the end of Semester 3, our students are experiencing a busy time. As is expected, some take it more in their stride than others.
A few quick tips are provided below to help students avoid any unnecessary angst or stress. Some suggestions of how we can support our young people to take care of themselves:
- Encourage them to be healthy; apart from healthy meals perhaps aim to have healthy snacks available. Some suggestions are hummus and celery and carrot sticks, nuts and dried fruit and fresh fruit.
- Encourage and support them to get plenty of sleep. Research suggests teenagers require nine to ten hours of sleep every night.
- Encourage them to talk to others. This may include you, their teachers and/or staff. The aim is to reassure them that they are experiencing similar emotions to those around them. It may also be to clarify a task or question.
- Take regular breaks… Some examples of what can be done in these breaks is: read a book, mindful meditation, or just take time out to listen to music.
- Build in Regular Exercise… such as Yoga, walking (including walking the dog) or the normal sport and training that occurs with it.
