YEAR 9 HOLOCAUST PRESENTATION

On Monday 28 August as part of the Year 9 Wisdom and Service Unit, students at the East Campus underwent an overview of the Holocaust. The Year 10 History team who have been currently teaching a two-week unit on the Holocaust in their own History classes went to the East Campus to deliver an overview of this very important topic.

The Year 9s were beautifully behaved and listened respectfully as the Year 10 team went through the stages of the Holocaust with them. Students will be going through this topic in their Wisdom and Service classes in the next two weeks. Personally, I was really impressed with two things - the willingness of the Year 9s to listen and engage in such an important topic but also the professionalism and demeanour of the Year 10 team running the overview lecture.

I would like to thank David Machin, William Lee, Sofija Plavsic and Josh Cukierman for their outstanding effort in delivering such an important lecture. However, more importantly, I would like to thank the Year 9s for their willingness to take onboard the important lessons of the Holocaust and the staff at East Campus who made it possible, namely Chris Pantelios.

I would also like to thank the Humanities Team Leaders - Mrs Angela Masterson and Mr Phil O’Brien for their support behind the scenes in making this happen. I was both humbled and proud by what I saw at East Campus yesterday and I know the students took the messages delivered with grace.

Thanks
