Recess and Lunch Time Programs

As well as great learning opportunities in the classroom, students at CHPS can participate in  a range of different clubs during snack and lunch times- everything from Art Academy with Ms Michielin, Dance Club with Mr King, or Library with Mrs Ward and Mrs Offer. See the poster below to see everything that’s on! A huge thank you to the teachers who put time in effort into organising/ running these clubs for our students.

A busy end to Term 2!

This term has been jam-packed and there is still more to come before students (and teachers) have a well-deserved break over the holidays. We are so proud of the effort students have put into their learning this term. At the moment, some students are feeling extra tired (especially with those pesky winter bugs around). Here are a few tips for better sleep:

  • Set up a regular routine for bedtime.
  • Encourage your child to relax/ wind-down for at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Older children might like to read a book or listen to gentle music or use a meditation app like ‘Calm’ or ‘Smiling Mind’
  • Get plenty of natural light during the day, especially in the morning. This helps your child feel awake and alert during the day, and sleep at bedtime.
  • Turn off devices at least one hour before bedtime (increased reliance on technology amongst adults and children alike, and the constant information overload, can make self-regulation more difficult).

The increased reliance on technology, (amongst adults and kids alike) and the constant information overload, can make it more difficult for children to regulate their emotions. We encourage everyone to “unplug” and “switch off” (as much as possible!)
