STRONG MINDS,

GENTLE HEARTS

News from Frazer Rigby

Deputy Principal

Thank you for your patience and perseverance with the limitations that the Lavalla building project and the Cairns Show brought to our stop-drop-go zone and the Barlow Park car park. Your alternative planning made the week one of the smoothest weeks of the year.

Please remember that the zone is closed until 2.40pm on Wednesdays to allow all sport buses to return safely.

Collecting your son after school

Quite often boys are left waiting either in the College grounds or outside the school until 5pm or later.  Please note that supervision is provided on Scott Street until 3:40pm. No supervision is provided on the College grounds for day students after school. Please make suitable arrangements for your son to be picked up or met by 3:45pm if they do not have supervised school commitments beyond that time. Alternatively, students may do their homework or study in the Gildas centre until 4:45pm Monday -Thursday and until 3.30pm on Friday.

The boys have been advised that while waiting for parents, they must respect the local community and the College by following the guidelines below:

  • Sit quietly while waiting.
  • Keep the footpath clear.
  • Don't play ball games, specifically handball.
  • Don't swear.
  • Don't use laptops.
  • Look neat and tidy with socks up and shirts tucked in.

Restorative Justice - Forgiveness

One of the most challenging life skills we try to teach and embody in schools is that of forgiveness. The Restorative Justice framework we use at Saints aims to help young people give and receive forgiveness and to experience others doing the same. The capacity to forgive is often seen as a weakness, but those of us who have experienced deep forgiveness know that the fortitude of the person who has graced us with their forgiveness is amazingly strong and admirable. Let us be that person for others.
