VCE Theatre Studies

A Midsummer Night's Dream

As part of an assessment for VCE Theatre Studies students are required to work in design and/or acting to develop a performance. This year's theatre studies class performed an adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Thank you to all the students, parents and staff for being part of the audience and supporting these talented students.

A Midsummer Night's Dream was an extremely rewarding and memorable experience for me, especially as I am one of the theatre studies class' year 12s, and it was our last ever group performance for high school! Getting to create and develop the play as a combined class of year 12s and year 11s was a new experience too, and really allowed us to bond and have a lot of fun with the play. A Midsummer Night's Dream was a memorable event specifically given that there was no full-school production this year - for me personally it was a breath of fresh air and a huge source of joy and stress-relief during Term 2. Being able to perform for family, friends and members of the school this year was super amazing, and Midsummer is a play I'll remember fondly for a long time! - Ilana C.

A Midsummer Night's Dream was a great experience for everyone as a class in terms of adapting to different theatre language, and was a fun performance overall! The development and final product of the costumes and set was exciting to see, and really helped each one of us get into character. I felt I was inspired by my peers to perform to the very best of my abilities, and was ecstatic to see the final product of our hard work. - Natasha L.

A Midsummer Night's Dream for me was really special as I knew it would be my final production at school and I'm so relieved and happy with how it turned out. Productions are always a bit nerve wracking at first as this was initially and during but it all came together so well and so seamlessly. As a cast we grew stronger and closer both on and off stage, I couldn't have asked for a better cast and better director. Wouldn't have gotten through this year without it. - Chris O.

Developing and performing in Midsummer Night's Dream was the perfect way to start the year. Coming into VCE with such an already super strong group of year 12’s, gave us the perfect opportunity to get to know them, as well as get to know everyone else in the class. Learning the process and dedication that it takes to putting on such a fun and entertaining show was awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And then performing with all my friends, it was such a fun two nights that we got to spend acting and having a blast with each other. - Georgia S.
