From the School Council
From the Vice President | Parents and Friends Association | 2023 Council
We understand that a change of school uniform can cause passions to run high, especially at this point in time with the increased cost of living pressures. The whole uniform process started in 2021 with a change of supplier and has moved steadily, with consultation and a lot of deliberation and discussion, in order for the new policy and uniform to be ready for the start of the 2024 school year.
The school council has tried to listen to all stakeholders, and as parents ourselves, deliver a uniform which is fit for purpose, the students want to wear, delivers value for money and shows off our school to the broader community. We are confident that when parents and students see the whole package, they will be excited to wear it. But we ask that the school and school council are given the opportunity to present the whole uniform and policies before opinions are made. We are asking for a few more weeks to tie up loose ends and confirm the final details before presenting it to the school community. As you can imagine its quite a complex issue with many moving parts which need bringing together. We have asked the school to put items on display so you can see them in person which again we hope will be in the first few weeks of next term.
We would also like to stress, and reassure families, that we have given a lot of time and thought to how we can support those families who may be struggling to make ends meet. This is very much at the forefront of our thinking, and we will continue to work with the College to ensure support is available through a variety of channels and that the transition policy is as easy as it can be for families.
Rory Hall
Vice President
Parents and Friends Association
We continue to seek interested parents and friends to join the Cheltenham Secondary College Parents and Friends Association (PFA). We are not looking for you to single-handedly run all sorts of complex meetings or events. We simply want the PFA to have a large group of individuals willing to help at any fundraising or school events. We want it to be a fun group of people rather than a burden and grind for those involved.
If you are interested in being added to our mailing list, please complete the PFA Expression of Interest survey. To find out more contact Sharon: pfcheltsec@gmail.com
*If you have already completed the EOI, thank you. We have your details and will be in touch soon.
