From the Acting Principal

As we approach the end of another successful term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights and achievements that have taken place at our school over the past few months. It has been an eventful term filled with various activities and opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and contribute to our community.

One of the standout events of this term was the Student Representative Council's (SRC) initiative, "The Great Bake Off." Our talented student bakers showcased their culinary skills, and through their efforts, we managed to raise an impressive $305 for cancer prevention research. This event not only brought our school community together but also instilled a sense of compassion and social responsibility in our students.

Another notable experience was the Central Australia Camp, where our students had the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes of this unique region. This immersive trip provided our students with a deep understanding of the significance of indigenous culture and fostered a sense of appreciation for the natural wonders of our country.

The Year 8 students also embarked on an unforgettable adventure at The Summit. This camp pushed them out of their comfort zones, challenging them to overcome obstacles and work collaboratively as a team. It was inspiring to witness their personal growth and resilience throughout the camp, as they conquered physical challenges and developed valuable life skills.

Of course, this term was not without its academic focus. Our students diligently prepared for and undertook their exams, demonstrating their commitment to their studies and their determination to succeed. We are proud of their hard work and the progress they have made in their academic pursuits.

Additionally, this term, our students enthusiastically participated in the inter-school event, The Exchange, against Avenues College, where they engaged in a wide range of 28 sporting, cultural, and academic challenges. This event provided our students with a platform to showcase their talents and skills, while also promoting healthy competition and teamwork.

Throughout The Exchange our students exemplified our school values of respect, responsibility, trying to achieve their personal best and showing a strong sense of community. They displayed great sportsmanship, treating their fellow participants with respect and fairness. Our students took their responsibilities seriously, showing dedication and commitment to their chosen activities, and representing our school with pride. Moreover, they actively fostered a sense of community, forging connections and forming new friendships with students from different schools, thereby promoting inclusivity and unity.

We commend our students for their outstanding performance and for upholding our school values during The Exchange. Their participation and achievements in this event highlight their diverse talents and their ability to excel in various areas, be it sports, arts, or academics.

We are immensely proud of our students' accomplishments and the positive impact they have made both within our school community and beyond. Their involvement in The Exchange has not only broadened their horizons but has also strengthened their character, preparing them to become well-rounded individuals who can thrive in any endeavour they choose to pursue.

Congratulations to all our students who took part in The Exchange, and a special thank you to the teachers and staff who supported and guided them throughout this exciting journey. Together, we have demonstrated the true spirit of our school and have set a high standard for future endeavours.

Well done, everyone!

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated and passionate teachers. Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to our student's growth and well-being have made all these accomplishments possible. They have not only imparted knowledge but also nurtured our students' character, ensuring that they leave our school as well-rounded individuals.

I would like to bring your attention to an important event taking place at the start of the next term. We will be hosting parent/student/teacher conferences specifically for students undertaking Year 11 and 12 subjects. These conferences will provide a valuable opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to come together and discuss the progress, goals, and any concerns regarding the student's academic journey.

The parent, student, teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday 19th July, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm onsite at Cheltenham SC. We have chosen this time frame to ensure maximum convenience for all participants, allowing for flexible scheduling.

To streamline the booking process and ensure smooth coordination, we will be utilising the parent portal on COMPASS. Through the parent portal, you will be able to book your preferred time slots for the conferences.

These conferences serve as a valuable opportunity to gain insights into your child's academic progress and address any concerns or questions you may have. We strongly encourage all parents and students to actively participate in these conferences as they play a crucial role in fostering open communication and collaborative efforts between home and school.

We believe that a strong partnership between parents, students, and teachers is essential for the success and wellbeing of our students, especially during the critical years of Year 11 and 12. These conferences will allow us to work together in supporting and guiding our students towards their educational goals and aspirations.

We look forward to your active involvement in these conferences and to the continued success of our students.

As we approach the well-deserved break, I encourage everyone to take some time to rest, rejuvenate, and reflect on the achievements of this term. We look forward to an equally exciting and productive next term, as we continue to strive for excellence in education and personal development.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Sincerely

Brooke Matthews
