National Chess Championships

This year, the Nossal Chess Club qualified for the ultimate challenge... playing chess in the National Finals which was one of our biggest achievements. This has been achieved through months of competition in local, regional and state chess meets. 

Overall, the Middle Years team finished in 7th place and our Open Secondary team came 2nd, just a couple of points behind Melbourne High School. Nicholas Ilic and Josiah Schuller achieved the best score in our team with 5, whilst Akshayan Manivannan and John Wang got 4.5, I got 4 and Krishnan Gounder got 3. I was also proud to be awarded Best Female Player in the tournament for which I received a trophy. The tournament for us was very challenging but it was a great experience.

Thank you to the Year 12s who have helped us along the way to becoming the best chess players we could be and I wish you all the best of luck in the future.
