General News

In the last couple of weeks, we have had some significant activities within our community that have involved families supporting the school.

Second Hand Book and Uniform Sales

Congratulations to the dedicated members of the PFA who attended the school on Orientation Day and operated the Second Hand Uniform Shop for the families of our new Year 9 students of 2020.  It was a successful trading day and was followed by another, on the following Saturday when the PFA held their annual Second Hand Book and Uniform Sale.

Like Orientation Day, this was well patronised by our school community who welcomed the opportunity to pick up some bargains.  It was a "Win, Win, Win"  event with current students and their families able to sell their books and items of uniform, new parents able to purchase same and the PFA able to again raise funds which they will be able to return to the school through the provision of equipment to support the students' learning.  Over the two days, the PFA raised almost $3,500.00, a fantastic effort!

Working Bee

Also on Saturday 7 December, a small but committed and smiling team of volunteers comprising parents (both past, current and future), students, family members and staff, worked in the and around the school garden areas with a particular emphasis on mulching gardens, sweeping paths and gutters, hedging and making the edge of pathways safer.  Mr Page lead a small team who also cleaned out the school's garden shed and in the process did  repairs to some classroom furniture. Those working in the gardens, were able to extend the work begun on the previous day by our Facilities Manager, Jason Bell, who set up the program utilising his bobcat skills. The PFA, through the work of President Larry, also contributed to the successful event by providing the volunteers with a well received sausage sizzle for morning tea.

We are most grateful to those who gave of their time for the benefit of the entire Nossal community.  Whether it was an hour or so while other family members attended the Second Hand Book and Uniform Sale, or  a longer contribution, the Facilities Committee of the school greatly appreciated everyone's efforts.  Thank you.
