Central West Youth Forum

Students together to discuss youth issues

On Thursday June 14, 6  Year 9 and 16 Year 10 students participated in the Central West Youth Forum held at the Cowra Bowling Club.  There were 45 students in total including other students from St Raphaels, Canowindra High School and Forbes High School.  The aim of the day was to brainstorm ideas in mixed school groups on issues relevant to young people aged 12 to 25 years in the Central West.  The facilitators were members of Youth Action, a Sydney based advisory body to the NSW Government, on issues that are youth related.

Issues discussed on the day included Equality, acceptance and trust, Bullying, Alcohol and other Drugs and Safety.  The Cowra High students participated with enthusiasm and  well thought out responses.  All students enjoyed the forum workshop and the opportunity to make contributions that may assist the government and community agencies to make Central West NSW a better place for young people.

Thanks to the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre (CINC) for organising the Youth Forum.
