Camp Australia Report

Hi Families,

Over the past week the children have had a lot of fun in morning and after care with our continuing theme of around the world – cultures and countries. We have created Carnival of Italy inspired masks, made our own bookmarks and culture hands. The children have loved this theme from this last week, so we continued on this week with a focus on cultures. The children have really enjoyed talking about the countries and cultures their families are from and creating their own artwork to represent this.

This week the children have been really big on construction, using materials such as lego, foam blocks and different materials from our setup that could potentially work. It’s all been an experiment of trial and error and it’s been beautiful to watch the children interact with and include each other in this type of imaginative, creative and experiential play.

There has been a big focus on group games this week which have been happening both indoors and outdoors, games have included marco polo, soccer, practicing soccer skills, football, markers up, tiggy, basketball and cricket.

Also this week children have explored the idea of building a set from history, making costumes for it from our art materials and acting out stories they have previously learned or are making up on the spot.

This week in Morning and After Care the theme will be animals, the children and I collaboratively came up with the topic together. There will be animal themed art activities offered each day, which will include making habitats animals live in and the animals who live there.

The usual games such as soccer, basketball, football, cricket, netball and whatever creative new games we can come up with.

We also have a great range of board games, card games, puzzles and other fun educational games for the children to enjoy.

We also include imaginative play of cafes at eating time with the children and this week plan to extend on this with the idea of being cooks/chefs where we explore cooking with our new included range of health foods.
