Principal's Report

Kevin Gleeson

Dear Parents and Friends,

It’s great to be back at St Fidelis' after travelling for the past four weeks. I visited San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Miami and then a cruise through the Caribbean and Panama Canal. I am very grateful to Janine for doing an outstanding job as Acting Principal while I was away, and to the members of the school leadership team for all the extras they have done.

Reconciliation Information Evening

Tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. is our Reconciliation information evening for all Year Two parents and students. This night is an important part of the student's preparation where we will discuss our program and details of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please note that this meeting will take place upstairs in the SLA due to the Art Show being set up in the hall. Parents and students are required to attend this meeting.

Art Show

Our Art Show is always a highlight of our school calendar and will take place this Thursday October 27 in the hall from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. I know all parents will be amazed when you see the exceptional artwork done by our students. The P&F are offering a sausage sizzle with cold drinks for the children and sparkling wine and coffee and tea for the adults. I look forward to seeing all parents at our Art Show. Please note that due to the Art Show, Out of School Care will take place in the library this week. The Art Show will also be open on Friday morning and afternoon and also after the parish masses this weekend.

2017 Prep Orientation

Orientation for our 2017 Prep students will take place over the next two weeks. Families received a letter last term containing the details. For existing families the dates are: Monday November 7th and Monday November 14th at 9:15 a.m.

2017 Planning

During this term we will commence planning for next year and the staff will be working on preparing class lists for 2017. The staff put a great deal of time and effort into preparing well balanced classes. At times parents will be tempted to make requests for friendship groups and even staff members. You will appreciate that these requests cannot be met and I would ask that you please trust the staff in our professional judgment in placing students in classes to ensure that the best learning dynamic can be achieved. If your family will not be returning next year I ask that you please inform the office this week.

School Uniform

It is expected that students will be in full summer uniform from this week.  Students are required to wear their school hat at all times while at school and I encourage students to wear their hats when walking to and from school. Students area also encouraged to apply sunscreen daily.

School Fees

Thank you to the majority of families who have finalised school fees. It is an enrolment requirement that fees be paid in full by the end of Term Three. If you still have not finalised your account, I ask that you do so this week. Any outstanding accounts may be forwarded to our fees collection agency and will incur additional charges. Please contact me if you wish to discuss your school fees.

Please remember that we have two closure days planned this term. Next Monday October 31st, which is the day before Melbourne Cup, and Monday November 28th.

Please note that there will be no school next Monday and Tuesday.

Due to the Art Show, we have changed our assembly timetable. Next Friday November 4th, 1/2CC will lead assembly and Friday November 11th 3/4JM will lead assembly. Parents and friends are always welcome at our assembly.
