Rockin' the Suburbs

After months of rehearsals, Performing Arts and MAD Academy students put on an extraodinary show on the big stage, at the Plenty Ranges Theatre:

On Thursday 8th of June, The Lakes South Morang P-9 School held its 7th annual Song, Dance and Drama Night. The evening showcased performances put together by our extremely talented students.

Throughout Term 2, the Performing Arts students worked hard to create and perfect their performances for the night, during their classes. As we edged closer to the night of the show, the students as well as the staff worked tirelessly making sure everything was organised and the pieces the students put together, were performance ready.

The day had finally arrived and it was show time. We walked to the theatre and spent the day watching others practice, setting up the stage and making sure all was perfect. It busy, it was also very stressful and exciting. While rehearsing with our peers, we were joined on stage by the incredible students from NCAT, which was a bit of a surprise to everyone.  We welcomed them and settled in for run throughs.

The show itself was amazing, our students gave it their personal best and really dazzled the audience. We had Musicians that rocked, dancers that sparkled and actors that owned the stage. We also had our first ever poetry readings by our Year 9 English students. It was amazing to see how a school showcase brought so many members of the community together.

As Performing Arts Captains, we couldn’t have been more proud of everyone who was involved.  Parents, teachers and our peers were so supportive of other acts and as the performers came off the stage, they were showered with positive feedback. It was a tremendous atmosphere to be in.

We would like to thank everyone for supporting our us, our students and making the night as enjoyable as possible. It was an amazing night and without help from our community, it wouldn’t have been possible!
