Tech Savvy
Year 5 students have been designing apps and creating websites. Marco, Nash and Stephanie explain:
Hello! Our names are Marco, Nash and Stephanie and we are in 5B Digital Technologies. This semester we have been designing our own apps and websites.
When we were designing our apps, we had to make a plan. Our plan included a title, cost, age rating, developer name, category and description. We also had to design an app icon and concept art to show what our app screens would look like. At the end, we had to create a sales pitch to Apple to try to convince them to buy our app.
This term, we have been designing and making our own websites to put on the internet. First, we had to decide on our topic.
Nash: I chose to make my website about Animals, including Komodo Dragons, Gibbons and Anteaters.
Stephanie: I chose Music and Singers, including Delta Goodrem, Samantha Jade, Ed Sheeran, Adele and Rihanna.
Marco: I chose Sport Info, which included Australian Football, Basketball and Soccer.
Once we had chosen our topics, we had to go to Book Creator and create our website plan. We had to include three topics and research to find at least three facts about each topic. We had to find photos for our website. The photos had to be Creative Commons images because we could get in trouble with copyright if we used photos that we didn't have permission to use. We also had to include hyperlinks to other websites.
Once we had finished our plan, we went to an app called Weebly to start creating our websites. We had to choose a theme and create different pages. Then we had to add our facts, photos and hyperlinks.
Stephanie: Digital Technologies has been fun because we made websites and apps.
Marco: I really enjoyed Digital Technologies and making websites and apps because it was really exciting and interesting.
Nash: I liked Digital Technologies because we could learn new things and share our ideas with the world.
