Ye Olde Life

Year 1 students went to Bundoora Farm Heritage Village to get a taste of the "good ol' days". Here's what they said about it:

On Thursday the Year 1s went on an excursion. When we got inside we ate brain food. We saw emus. We played on the playground. I went to put my bag away. I went to see how they made horse shoes. Then I went to see how they made the hay. We got to be the horses. I went to see in the olden days how they put the bags in the horse cart. We got to do it. We went to see a house. We had to find a toilet and a heater and a TV. I wrote my name. I got to do the washing. It was fun. I got to go in a school. I liked how we did the work. I liked the games. When we finished our lunch we played tiggy. I liked the game.

On Thursday 11th of May, I went on an excursion to Bundoora Farm. All of the Year 1s had fun. First, Mitch’s group went in a house. We got to clean some farm clothes. Me and Ella got to spin the wheel that has four sides. Me and Ella had fun spinning the wheel thing. It went really fast. Mitch’s group was the first to go with the teacher. Her name was Mrs Keybottom and Luca got the strap and Jay got to wear the Dunce hat. Jay had to put his nose on the board. I got the answer right because everyone else didn’t stand up but I was the only one. It was a very, very, very, very fun day.

On Thursday 11th of May, I went on an excursion to Bundoora Farm. I got there by bus. When I went to the Heritage Village, I went in the school. We couldn’t talk there. At the school I did work. Girls couldn’t sit next to boys. We couldn’t even whisper or if you do whisper you will get the hat. Or you will put your nose against the black board. Then we played games. One was throwing the boot. The other games were horse shoe games. You have to throw the horse shoe on the pole. Then I got back to school on the bus. It was a long way back.

We also had a bit of our snack and a little play on the playground. I played on the swing and the spider web. Then we went to have a look at the olden day stuff. There were olden day houses and there were no TV’s because electricity was not made. We learned how to wash the clothes. They did not have a washing machine. We also did vacuuming and sweeping and we got to turn the milk into butter. It was very fun! We also did printing. We also did some other activities. We did Hula Hooping and we had to throw the boot as far as we could and we had to throw the rings on the sticks. On the way there we went on a bus. We saw the olden day school.
